Saturday 11th August: Whitbarrow and Lords Seat

Following the successful walk in May led by Anna Hassan, Ian and Sue Clayworth are happy to lead a 6.5 mile walk around Whitbarrow and Lord’s Seat on Saturday 11 August.
Weather permitting, all people interested meet at Beetham Reception at 10:00am, with a packed lunch, ready for the short drive to Whitbarrow (approx. 15 to 20 minutes).
The walk should take about 3 to 3½ hours + lunch stop to complete so, if you would like to, there’s time to enjoy a drink in one of the local pubs at the end before heading back to Beetham.
Full details of the route are available in the library, Ian and Sue will be happy to answer any questions or provide further information (34 Oak).

Saturday 12th May: Scout Scar and Cunswick Fell Walk 10 am

A great time to explore Spring Flowers and the great views across the Lake District. A must for anyone who has never done this walk as it is a favourite for many local walkers. Anna Hassan will be leading this walk around spectacular Limestone of Scout Scar and Cunswick Fell, parking at Helsington Church, meeting at reception at 10 am.  Anna suggests walkers take a packed lunch (the walk is about 3 ½ hrs) with possibly a stop off at the pub at the end of the walk. Please let reception know if you are interested, although it will be more than okay to just turn up on the day.

Sunday 6th May: Geology of the Park – Landscape Trust Event 2pm

Peter Standing, a good friend of the park, will be our guide for this event. We have the pleasure of inviting the Landscape Trust to visit the park and see the interesting geological features that exist here. We will hear about the formation of the limestone in the tropics, its move on land plates to its current location, Beetham through the Ice Age, ongoing water erosion and how it has become such a fantastic landscape for plants and animals including ourselves.
